Does Charlotte Die?

Travis asked me this and I said "No" but I didn't elaborate. Since Kiersten and Coffelt pointed out that Charlotte said that she was looking for the place that she was born, and it was earlier stated that the new people(Daniel, Charlotte, the Asian Guy, and the Chick that Locke killed) where all there for a reason, I have a hard time thinking that they will kill her in the next few episodes unless there is some sort of major reveal as to her purpose for coming to the island. As of right now, there has been nothing.

  1. no idea how to be a "contributor"...

Charlotte may or may not die... but even if she does, it won't be before we know what her purpose is/who's relation she is.

We already know that one of the symptoms of being "unstuck in time" is the nose bleeds, and the cure for that is obviously to have a constant (as stated by Faraday to Desmond in S4)

So, with that knowledge in mind, I think the big reveal for Charlotte is going to happen in the form of finding her constant; whether it be a person or object.

But it leads to another question... if Charlotte needs a constant, why aren't the other survivors suffering the same symtpoms?

  2. Did Rebecca Mader get a DUI? No? She's safe. I'm not sure she needs a constant either, because she is physically time traveling, not just mentally time traveling. Constant 27:05 teaches us that one needs a constant in cases where the mind is no longer able to tell which time is which. This is not Charlotte's problem.

  3. I was with Brandon right up until I read Coffelt's post. The thing about it is she is showing all the symptoms that we saw from the travelers in 'The Constant'. Could be she is a special case. Odds are we find out next week.

  4. If she needed a constant, Daniel would work. Constant 26:27 teaches us that a constant is merely someone or something familiar in both times. She is having an allergic reaction to time travel.

  5. Stop quoting from the good book of Constant.

  6. I'll give you the square on that... but I'll counter with, we don't know what effects time travel has on people in general.

Regardless, the nosebleeds from the Constant and the nosebleeds this season are consistant with each other. I think it's unwise to disregard the similarities.

  7. But, we never see Charolette in her "traveling" mode. Like Desmond and that guy on the freighter and even the chick in the bed all seemed to be sorta staring, and I havent seen that with Charlotte, its not improbable just a bit far-fetched.

  8. All of the survivors go through a "traveling" mode whenver there's a blinding flash. Maybe not a staring into space mode, but travel nonetheless.

  9. And in blinding flash you mean...the island moving or the flash backs/forwards?

  10. Talking about the Island changing time flash (to the 50's and back to the "present")

but a side note on flash backs/forwards; aren't they just another form of time traveling? The whole show is one giant lump of jumping through time!
